Over the last five years, one of Taylor’s senior product developers, David Hosler, has become an expert on magnetics, steeping himself in the history of magnetic pickups with one of the world’s pioneers in that field, Mr. Rupert Neve. That led to the T5, in which Taylor crossed the threshold into the electric world, experimenting further with the design of magnetic pickups.

On July 14th, I flew down to beautiful San Diego California to attend Taylor University. For the past 2 years, the Taylor U program has been bringing dealers from across North America to the Taylor factory. Our very own Mike Gray attended the first Taylor U event back in July 2008. I’ve been jealous ever since, so you can imagine my excitement as I finally arrived in San Diego on a sunny Wednesday morning.

It’s that time of year again! Taylor Guitars has released their 2010 Fall Limited guitars, and they are a seriously beautiful bunch. The star of this fall’s show is Taylor’s new fingerboard inlays. Fine lines are laser etched on to the inlay pieced, creating some fantastic looking detail patterns. I had the opportunity to see these inlay pieces as they were under development during my visit to the Taylor factory this summer. I’ll post another link to the article covering the factory tour at the bottom of this page. For now, let’s take a closer look at each of the new Fall Limiteds!
