Rickenbacker has a unique position in guitar history, having produced some of the very earliest true electric instruments – specifically, the ‘frying pan’ steel guitars of 1931. Rickenbacker instruments are quite distinctive visually and tonally; the chime of the Riki 12 on so many hit pop records and the bite of the Riki Bass are immediately recognisable.

MORE →Based closely on the 1964 model, the Rickenbacker 325C64 brings forth memories from anyone exposed to the ‘British Invasion’ – or the Ed Sullivan show! – in the early and mid 1960’s. This 2011 example is in good condition and is really interesting to play – and of course it has that sound. Complete with Accent vibrato tailpiece.
MORE →The Rickenbacker 325 is perhaps most famously associated with John Lennon on the Beatles tours and many albums and smash hit songs. The short scale and narrow neck allow a lot of complex chord shapes and fast changes.
This 1974 example is in good working order; it’s been played but not abused.
MORE →This 2005 example of the 360/6 looks like it came from the factory recently – it’s in excellent condition with no appreciable wear or finish damage. It even has the “Made in America” sticker on the pickguard. Being a 360, it’s also wired for Ric-O-Sound, allowing the use of a different amplifier or channel for each pickup.
