Guild began producing instruments in 1952, and at opening its staff included a number of people from Epiphone who naturally brought their influences with them. The Guild X-350 Stratford was heavily influenced by the Epiphone Emperor Zephyr Regent, down to the pushbutton pickup selector.

Here is a very nice 1977 Guild X-175 Blonde Manhattan Archtop. Guild archtops are not extremely common, but are highly valued. Originally drawing from the heritage of the Epiphone workforce, Guild has produced many extremely good instruments over the years. They feature solid, practical designs, excellent wood selection, and top level craftsmanship.

MORE →Here’s something unusual! A 1967 Deep Green Guild Starfire XII in good playing condition, though the finish is worn. Guild introduced the Starfire in 1960 as a thinline semi-hollow single cutaway guitar. By 1963, the double-cutaway Starfire IV was introduced.
