One of the last Brazilian rosewood D-28 models this guitar has seen some action and wow does it sound great! With a deep and full bass response that you can feel going through the guitar and into your chest and a deliciously rich set of overtones this is the sound that made the D-28 a classic. The trebles are there as well and become more present as you dig in. This guitar shines when played loud and aggressive but still responds well when picked with a lighter touch. What a great example of why so many guitars over the years have copied this classic design! Comes with non original Martin hardshell case.

At the Jan 2010 LA NAMM show, one guitar stood out above all the others I saw in that huge show; The Collings Art Deco guitar. Visually, it made such an impression on me that I posted it as my personal choice for “best in show” and immediately placed an order. It was a one-off, limited run design and only a handful were built.
MORE →The HD-28 is a classic instrument with a great full, round tone. This is a very clean example and very comfortable to play; I’m having a hard time getting away from it to write this!

Upon opening the case for this guitar the first thing that hits you is the visual impact of the faded tobacco burst over a wonderful book-matched Bearclaw Sitka spruce top. Then your eyes are drawn to the Snakewood bridge and fingerboard which really pop but don’t overpower the visual impact of the top itself. I thought it couldn’t get much better until I flipped the guitar over and was hit over the head with an absolutely stunning set of Ziricote. The dark grain lines and sapwood practically jump to life under the high gloss nitrocellulose finish! As usual the detail oriented craftsmanship we have come to expect from Sergei is on display including flawless joinery and beautiful finish work.

MORE →Based on the classic J-200, and built under the supervision of Ren Ferguson, the J-100 is a somewhat stripped-down version with less of the decoration but all of the quality. The top is unencumbered by the traditional large and thick pickguard, and so is a little livelier and more resonant. Lots of bass, and overall a very nice guitar.
