Vega No.2 Banjo, 1930's, with replica neck

Serial Number	70450, Pot and hardware built in 1930’s, Vega replica neck built in 70’s.

Neck	Mahogany neck with center Maple strip, unbound rosewood fingerboard, heel cap and headplate. Vega inlay on headplate.
Frets	22 frets in very good condition with minimal play wear.
Body	Original Tubaphone tone ring from the 1930’s with original hardware.
Finish	Gloss lacquer finish on neck with little play wear but some normal lacquer checking.
Hardware/electronics	The original rim is fitted with the original standard Tubaphone Tone ring with brass bracket band and Tension hoop: all original. The Tailpiece is a Paramount “flip lid” tailpiece with the adjustable lever for down-bearing. The original dowel stick mounting is gone with the original Tenor neck and replaced by a single large and extra beefy brass-rod control rod. Solid job indeed. Tuners are the original period tuners transferred from the original Vega Tenor neck with a modern 5th string tuner.
Playability/Action	Plays well and we will set it up for the player’s requirements.
Case	Hardshell case included.
Comments	Here is a very nice openback banjo based on a 1930’s Vega No.2 tone ring and hardware.To the untrained eye, the neck looks “period” or “original” but is actually more elaborately inlaid than the original Tenor neck would have been …that said, a great way to get a “historic” banjo without paying the premium of a true vintage instrument.
