Comments | Here is a beautiful G.W. Barry Concert CW 1966 model which has really opened up through lots of playing time but has only minor play wear. The tone coming from this guitar is balanced with lots of lush overtones and a thick rich bass response.
This guitar was owned by the late James Pirie.James G. Pirie – Guitarist / Arranger / Composer (American Federation of Musicians, Toronto Musicians Association, SOCAN). Born in Winnipeg, James was an arranger and featured guitarist on “the Tommy Hunter Show”. He was the featured guitar soloist on three ABC television mini-series: “Lonesome Dove”, “Buffalo Girls” and “Streets of Laredo”. One of the Four Masters, James was the featured guitar soloist on the classical album “Vignettes in Music” for Duke Street Records. He produced, arranged, and played on albums for Gordon Lightfoot, Anne Murray, Hagood Hardy, Frank Mills, Brent Carver and Rita MacNeil and orchestrated Charlottetown Festival’s production of “Emily”. In addition, he scored and conducted the Emmy award winning series, “Portrait of America”. James Pirie worked on numerous film scores as arranger and orchestrator. He won an Emmy for composing, orchestrating and conducting the ABC tv film “Alaska, Story of a Dream”, and a Clio for Best International Score for the commercial, ‘Discovery Train”. As a renowned studio musician, James Pirie orchestrated and been the featured guitarist on more than 200 international commercial advertisements.
