Comments | Introduced in 1958, Leo Fender intended the Jazzmaster to be a step up from the Stratocaster, aimed at the jazz guitar market and competing with hollowbody instruments. That’s not quite what happened, though; it became most popular with the surf-music crowd. The innovative ‘offset’ body design also led to many imitators, notably the Gibson Firebird. Before long, Fender objected to Gibson’s use of the design, so Gibson flipped it over. This 1964 model has been used as intended, and is in good playing condition. |
