Comments | The Esquire was introduced in 1950, prior to the Broadcaster (which became the NoCaster, then the Telecaster). The guitars are nealy identical; the primary difference is the lack of neck pickup. The Esquire has the 3-way switch, and the ‘neck’ position adds in capacitors to simulate the less-trebly sound of the missing pickup. This example is in overall good condition; it’s been used as intended so there is wear in the expected places.Overall this appears to be a very nice piece in original condition, until you play it and plug it in. Then it reveals itself for what it really is – an incredible guitar. |
