NOTE – We are no longer Egnater dealers. This post is maintained for historical purposes only.
We first saw Egnater Amplification last summer, after seeing their amps on display at the 2008 MIAC trade show. Since that time, Egnater has taken the electric guitar world by storm. Their flagship amp, the Tourmaster 4100, has become known for its incredible versatility and groundbreaking features. Then came the Rebel 20. This single channel 20 watt head has quickly become our fastest selling tube amp. Ever. Period. With its tube mix control and variable wattage setting, it does things that no other amp can.
This month, a full year later, Egnater has taken the features that have made their amps so successful and refined, expanded, improved upon them across the board by introducing two new models into their lineup: the Rebel 30 and the Renegade.
Egnater Rebel 30 2×12 and 1×12 combo amplifiers
The Rebel 30 picks up the features of its predecessor and takes off with them as fast as it can. This 30 watt amp offers two channels. Channel 1gives lush, clean headroom with all the clarity and sustain you could hope for. Channel 2 starts off with a bit of grit, and then pushes all the way into heavy metal distortion as you bring up the gain control. Like last year’s Rebel 20, the Rebel 30 features the revolutionary ‘Tube Mix’ control. A single dial lets you choose between two separate pairs of power tubes, EL 84’s or 6V6’s, or any blend of the two. Both channels feature their own pair of Egnater’s trademark ‘bright’ and ‘tight’ toggle switches for shaping the attack and bass response. Each channel also has independent wattage and reverb level controls. Egnater has also included a direct line output, allowing mic-free silent recording. The two-button footswitch gives remote control for channel selection, and reverb on/off. The Rebel 30 is available as a 1×12 or 2×12 combo.
Egnater Renegade 1×12, 2×12, and 4×10 combo amplifiers
Next up……. the Renegade. Take the tube mix control from the Rebel series, and the sheer power of the Tourmaster 4100, and this is what you get! This 2 channel amp features 65 watts of power. It provides gain, volume, EQ, tight and bright switch, tube mix, power (65 or 18 watts), and reverb controls PER CHANNEL! Add a 4 button footswitch, effects loop, and direct-recording output, and you have what is easily one of the most well rounded workhorse amps ever made. Available as a head, 1×12 combo, 2×12 combo, or 4×10 combo, this is an amp that has something for everyone. No guitar player should look past the Renegade when choosing their next amplifier.
