Comments | Here’s a very lightly used Concert style guitar from David Wren, built during 2012, and featuring a ‘Sinker’ redwood top and Macassar ebony back and sides. This guitar is in very good condition, with a french polish finish. French polish is a very light, hand-applied lacquerfinish and impedes vibration about the least amount of any finish. It does not provide the ‘wet look’ glossiness of a sprayed polyester or heavy lacquer finish.
Many independent builders are moving to this type of finish for a number of reasons including that instruments sound better, and there is a significant reduction in exposure to solvents. David Wren builds outstanding instruments in Toronto, Ontario, and this is a wonderful example of his work. |
