Comments | Almost the Grail – a Cherry Red 1960 Gibson ES-355. Gibson introduced the thinline ES series in 1958, and the innovative combination of solid center block and acoustic chambers beyond made the line an instant hit. The design provides the rich tonal roundness of an acoustic guitar, with the sustain and clarity – and feedback resistance! – of a solidbody. This example of the 1960 production has been used as was intended. It’s seen a lot of playing, it’s been refretted at least once, and the finish is worn but the neck set is fine and it plays well and the PAF pickups sound really, really good. |
