The DS-260 is based on the popular Slope D model and uses design elements from the early years of guitar design to create an instrument with simple elegance and the highest quality craftsmanship and tone expected from Bourgeois guitars. This slope shouldered dreadnought features an Adirondack spruce top, Indian rosewood sides and back and a slotted headstock with a 12 fret body join.
Joining the neck to the body at the 12 fret moves the sound hole closer to the guitars waist and the bridge further down the lower bout. This allows the belly bridge to drive the top at the widest point of the lower bout providing a loose and open sound quality. The Adirondack spruce top has a crisp and distinct attack with tones of headroom and the Indian rosewood provides rich and full bass frequencies and lots of complex overtones. The DS-260 works great for big open chord strumming and the 1 3/4″ nut width increases the string spacing making for easy finger style passages.
Bourgeois creates a great vintage look for this guitar by using a matching herringbone back strip, rosette and an ivoroid/herringbone body binding. Top it all off with diamond shaped fingerboard inlays, a premium tortoise pickguard and Waverly three on a plate tuners and they really nail this classic theme!!
