SOLD!!! 2014 Gibson Byrdland

Comments Here’s something you won’t see every day – a brand new Gibson Byrdland.

The Gibson Byrdland was originally custom built in 1955 for two prominent session players – Billy Byrd and Hank Garland, and quickly became a production model.

The Byrdland features a unique blend of large and small; a full 17 inch wide body with a 2.5 inch depth, and a rather short 23.5 inch scale length that’s intended to allow players to grab big chords and play fast.

The Byrdland is available in two styles – with the rounded Venetian cutaway as shown here, or the sharper Florentine. The body is fully hollow with tone bar bracing; the top and back are carved from solid wood (spruce for the top and flame maple for the back) and hand-tuned. There is a second label from the craftsman who does the tuning.

Serial Number 10274001. This dates the guitar to January 27, 2014 and was built at Gibson’s Nashville plant.
