Comments | Originally introduced in 1954, the Gretsch Chet Atkins G6121 Roundup exemplifies the country and western aesthetic, or at least Fred Gretsch’s concept of it. The orange finish, the G-brand on the top, tooled leather trim on the sides, the steer and cactus engraving on the inlays, and the twang – it’s all there.
The Roundup is based on the Gretsch ‘Jet’ body, using a chambered back with an arched top; this adds resonance without also adding feedback, and also removes weight. This 2009 Gretsch Chet Atkins G6121 Roundup is as new; it’s never really been played at all. The aluminum Bigsby bridge adds quite a bit of brightness to the twang. |
