Comments | Jean Larrivee is very well known for producing not only many top-quality acoustic instruments, but also for training many top-quality luthiers. Grit Laskin, Dave Wren, Gord Berry, Serge de Jonge – all worked in the Larrivee shops.
Larrivee also produces several lines of electric guitars, maintaining their quality, tonal and production principles. The RS-4 is conceptually similar to the classic Les Paul design – single cutaway, carved maple cap on mahogany body, mahogany neck – but with a number of differences. The scale length is 3/4 inch longer than the Les Paul at 25.5 inches – the same as many Larrivee acoustics, and also many Fender electrics. The body is slimmer, and features a comfort contour on the back, so it’s a very comfortable guitar to play. This 2008 Larrivee RS4 Amber example is in near-mint condition, plays very well and sounds great. |
