| Comments | This is a spectacular instrument – a 2008 Eastman MDC805 Mandocello in near-perfect condition.
In 1992, Quian Ni was studying music in the United States and perceived a lack of affordable yet high quality, handbuilt instruments. Returning to China, he hired a number of master violin builders and established a large workshop. Since then, Eastman has built a reputation for high quality yet reasonably priced hand built instruments. The workshops look like Old World shops did, with few power tools but lots of hand tools operated by highly skilled people. This Mandocello is a beautiful instrument, with a full, lush tone that washes over the room. It’s in excellent condition with no significant dings or scratches. |
