The Collings MF Mandolin is one of the best sounding F-style mandolins available. Sporting a satin finish and ‘simplified appointments’, it has the same build quality and uses the same materials as the higher end Collings mandolins.
Built with a carved spruce top and highly flamed maple for the neck, sides, and carved back, these top shelf instruments look and play as good as they sound.
This sunburst example of the Collings MF Mandolin from 2008 has been used as intended by a prominent bluegrass player. It is thoroughly played in, so along with the honest, well-earned wear and tear, its tone has fully developed. It has been refretted with larger frets, and there is plenty of material available for future use. The finish has been removed from the back of the neck, which makes for a smooth, woody feel. It plays very well and has a warm, bright tone with lots of projection.
