Comments | Here’s a surprisingly nice Strat! Fender’s Eric Johnson Stratocaster model is pattered after a 1957 example, with light weight, comfortable contours, little tweaks to aid tuning stability, and a great sound.
This 2005 Fender Eric Johnson Sunburst Stratocaster is in great, near pristine condition. The weight and contouring make it one of the more comfortable Strats I’ve played recently. |
Serial Number | EJ05897, built during 2005 |
Pricing | $1,399 CAD including case. SOLD |
Neck | Maple neck with fuller V profile; one piece including fingerboard, with walnut ‘skunk stripe’ for truss rod installation. Truss rod adjuster is at the body end. 12″ radius. |
Frets | Original frets with very minor wear. |
Body | Alder body, selected for light weight, with 1957 style contours. While the body is routed for a trem bridge and the trem is installed, holes for the spring cover are not drilled. |
Finish | 1957 style sunburst finish, in a light nitrocellulose lacquer. The finish is in excellent condition. |
Hardware/electronics | All original hardware, based on 1957 Strat parts. The tuners, however, are a staggered-post-height set to reduce the need for string trees on the headstock; in fact the Eric Johnson model does not have and isn’t drilled for string trees. ‘Eric Johnson’ Fender pickups. |
Playability/Action | This guitar plays really well! The trem has all 5 springs involved and they are tightened, so use of the trem would involve setup. Have a look at our feature on setting up a Strat – particularly part 3, which discusses the key trick to getting maximum tuning stability – angling the claw. |
Case | Original Fender rectangular hardshell case included. |
