Comments | Guild opened in 1952 with a small plant in New York but by 1956 had moved to Hoboken, New Jersey. The company kept growing, because of the quality of Guild’s production, and in 1967 production moved to a former furniture factory in Westerly, Rhode Island. By this time, Guild flat top acoustics were very popular and a big part of Guild’s product line. The D-40 has earned a solid reputation as a ‘bluegrass’ guitar – loud, clear and punchy with lots of articulation and warmth. This 1975 Guild D-40 NT Dreadnought (the NT stands for ‘Natural Top’) is in good playing condition and has a full, open, bright sound. |
