Comments	Rickenbacker instruments are distinctive and immediately identifiable, visually and sonically. Rickenbacker introduced the 4001 bass in 1961 and produced until 1986 except for 1966 and 1967. It’s been replaced by the 4003 bass. While the Fender Precision Bass holds the record for the most recordings, the Rickenbacker 4001 bass provides a bright punchy sound that comes right to the front of the mix. It’s hard to miss it on a recording or stage. This 1973 Rickenbacker 4001 Bass is in good shape and great playing condition.
Serial Number	ME 2184, built during May of 1973 at the Rickenbacker facility in Santa Ana, California.

Neck	Maple neck with bound, finished fingerboard. As standard with the 4001 model, the neck extends the full length of the instrument. Full 34 inch scale length, dual truss rods, slash position markers.
Frets	Original frets with some wear.
Body	Maple body in the distinctive 4001 ‘Crested Wave’ shape. Checkerboard binding on the top.
Finish	Original gloss black – JetGlo – finish in good condition.
Hardware/electronics	Original hardware, missing pickup cover. Grover machine heads with curved tuners. Wired as stock for Rick-O-Sound and mono. ‘Toaster Top’ pickup in the neck, high-gain single-coil pickup in the bridge position. Pickp selector switch, individual volume and tone controls.
