Comments | Here’s something unusual! A 1967 Deep Green Guild Starfire XII in good playing condition, though the finish is worn.
Guild introduced the Starfire in 1960 as a thinline semi-hollow single cutaway guitar. By 1963, the double-cutaway Starfire IV was introduced. And by 1966, the popularity of the electric 12-string with bands like the Beatles and the Byrds led many companies to produce 12-string models, including Guild. Guild’s Starfire XII was built between 1966 and 1973. This example is from 1967, with a rare deep green finish. It’s in good playing condition and sounds great, as these Guilds do. The neck profile is the typical thinner and narrower mid-60’s profile, larger than a Rickenbacker but smaller than a Gibson. It weighs a quite comfortable 7.6 pounds. |
