SOLD 1966 Martin D-21 (Consignment)

Comments First introduced in 1956, the C. F. Martin D-21 fits in the market space between the D-18 and the D-28. It has the appointments of a D-18, but most of the wood selection of the D-28. It features the D-28’s rosewood back and sides with spruce top, but the D-18’s faux tortoise binding, rosewood fingerboard and bridge.

This 1966 Martin D-21 was built just before Martin stopped using Brazilian rosewood in response to Brazil’s restrictions on the export of Brazilian Rosewood in lumber form. This, then, is one of the last Brazilian D-21s.

This example of the D-21 line is in good physical shape and good playing condition, and sounds quite good.
