This guitar comes with a copy of the original sales contract, to a young man about to go into the US Coast Guard.The Gibson L7 was introduced in 1932 as a mid-level but professional quality, full size 17 inch archtop guitar and was immediately popular. The last non-cutaway model, like this, was made in 1955.
This remarkable instrument plays very well, has been carefully maintained. It plays well and really sounds good with lots of power and projection. |

Frets | This instrument has been refretted and there’s years of playable fret left. It’s read to to straight to a gig. |
Body | Full size, fully hollow L7 design body with longitudinal tone bar bracing. Carved spruce top, carved maple back, maple sides. The top and back are bound and have a black-white purfling layer. |
Finish | Gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish in remarkably good condition. Some scratches and dings but very well preserved. |
Hardware/electronics | Original nickel plated hardware; open tuners with oval metal buttons, rosewood adjustable bridge, nickel plated L7 tailpiece, bound faux-tortoise pickguard. |
Playability/Action | This guitar plays quite well, and there is plenty of room at the bridge to move the action around. |
