S/N: 9149, built during 2012 at the Fender Custom Shop in Corona, California.
The Closet Classic line from the Fender Custom Shop is intended to replicate a guitar that was bought new, played a bit, then put away in a closet for some years. This isn't quite the same as a 'relicing' treatment - there will be very light wear but the finish will show normal ageing effects, such as light oxidization and lacquer checking.
Here is a Fender Closet Classic Stratocaster Pro in a checked Dakota Red lacquer finish, built during 2012. It's not quite a replica of a vintage piece, as it has a modern truss rod adjuster, fingerboard extension for an extra fret, and a 2-point tremolo bridge. The pickups are 'Abby Red Hots', hand wound by Abigail Ybarra, who built pickups for Fender from 1956 until her retirement in 2013.
This guitar is in as new condition - given that 'as new' means it's supposed to look older! The original rectangular, blonde Fender hardshell case is included.
In this linked video, Abigail Ybarra hand-winds an Esquire pickup.
