There have been a lot of variations on the basic Fender Stratocaster since its introduction in 1954. To my view, the Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster offers nearly everything a performance-oriented Strat needs. A smooth, stable trem, locking tuners, noiseless pickups, versatile wiring, larger fretwire, and great build quality.
This is a 2010 Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster in Tungsten finish, with locking tuners and a SSS (three single coil) pickup configuration.
However, the pickups are N3 Noiseless models. Traditional single-coils can have huge problems with hum pickup, especially in areas like our shop where there's a subway station a few feet underground, or apartments with electric heating sytems. Add in pedals with gain stages and it can be hard to hear the notes over the noise!
We've tried various approaches to reducing this, including shielding, RW/RP center pickups (this makes the 2-pickup-on switch settings humbucking, but does nothing for single pickups), and the Illitch hum cancelling coil - this works very well but requires a non-RW/RP center pickup, and that's now almost standard.
The Fender noiseless pickups go a very long way towards addressing these issues. They are very quiet, and retain most of the traditional Fender single coil sound. They sound good.
This guitar is in good playing condition, and plays well, but it has some finish wear. Fretwear is light but there are some buckle scratches on the plastic backplate, and there is a finish dent on the top near the bass end of the neck pickup.
There are locking tuners! The Fender locking tuner is perhaps my favourite version; it's very fast to restring and the gearing is smooth.
The original Fender hardshell case is included.
