S/N: N/A, built during 2009 at Serge de Jonge's shop in Chelsea, Quebec.
Dating to 2009, here is a Sergei de Jonge classical guitar, built at his workshop in Chelsea, Quebec and featuring a raised fingerboard and French Polish finish. The top is Cedar and the sides, back and bridge Indian Rosewood, with mahogany for the neck and ebony for the fingerboard. The rosette is spalted maple. The scale length is 650mm and the nut width 52mm.
This guitar is in very good condition, though it has been played over the last 8 years. In the photos, you can see a bit of glare from the plastic tap-plates - these have done a good job of protecting the top. The elevated fingerboard significantly improves physical access to the upper frets without requiring a cutaway. As well, the extra mass under the fingerboard can increase tonal clarity, separation and sustain. The French Polish finish provides some protection to the wood with the least amount of inhibition of vibration. A black TKL arch-top hardshell case is included.
