Based on the concept of the iconic C. F. Martin D-18, the Martin D-16GT features solid wood construction: Sitka spruce top, mahogany back, sides and neck. The fingerboard and bridge are Richlite, a composite material with the look and feel of ebony that Martin has been using for some time. As stock, this guitar carried a gloss finish top and satin for the rest of the guitar.
This instrument is in overall good condition; it has been played, and there are some marks here and there. The top has some pick marks and a couple of scratches, and there are a few small dings on the neck. Fretwear is moderate.
As to action and playability, this 2003 Martin D-16GT plays well and cleanly - and sounds great! - at its current action of 5/64ths inch treble and 6/64ths bass. There's lots of saddle available for adjusting the action.
A Martin molded hardshell case is included.
