The Silhouette Special uses a double cutaway Alder body with an SSH (Single, Single, Humbucking) pickup layout and the Music Man Silent Circuit to kill the hum from the single coils. This 1998 example has a metallic red finish that's in very good condition.
This guitar is factory equipped with the patented Buzz Feiten tuning system. This means that the nut is cut with specific offsets (the distance of the front edge of the slot to the first fret varies, depending on the string) and the saddles can be set using an electronic tuner that has the Buzz Feiten specified offsets. Finally, using that same tuner, the strings are tuned to specific pitches. These vary a few cents from 'Standard' tuning, and the result is that more notes are closer to being in tune with each other, especially in chords. The Feiten system is available through licensed installers. The guitar can, of course, be tuned to 'standard' values.
Overall, this guitar is in great condition, though it has one small chp on the rear of the headstock, and like all Music Man instruments is a pleasure to play. These are very comfortable, thoughtfully laid out guitars. A gig bag is included.
