S/N: 82973003, dating to October 24 1983 and is one of the last Gibson guitars built in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
The Gibson L-5 and its CES (cutaway electric spanish) form has been the top of the heap for archtop guitars for decades and has appeared on countless recordings and stages. The L-5 features a 17 inch wide, fully hollow body with F-holes, carved spruce top and maple back, maple rims and a 3-piece maple neck with bound ebony fingerboard and 25.5 inch scale length.
This L-5 CES dates to October 24, and was one of the last guitars built at the historic Gibson plant on Parsons Street in Kalamazoo, Michigan. By 1984, Gibson had completed its move to Nashville and sold the Kalamazoo plant and fixtures to the Heritage Guitar company - composed primarily of former Gibson staff. it is in very nice condition with some play wear and the natural sinking expected of lacquer finishes. The original hardshell case is included.
