Shown here is a Travis Bean TB1000S, or Standard, though it has mother of pearl block position markers, one of the features of the TB1000A Artist model. It has the flat, uncontoured Koa body of the Standard and the Travis Bean inscribed humbucking pickup covers. Fretwear is very light.
The finish may not be original; most Beans we have seen carried gloss finishes, and this one has been oiled. If it's been refinished, it was done very well as there is very little alteration of the edges or contours.
The control cavity has been shielded with copper foil, and rewired.
This guitar carries serial number 662, which dates it to 1976. Though there are no firm records of serial numbers, it's understood that number 684 was built in 1976 and was owned by Greg Lake of Emerson, Lake and Palmer. 1,442 Travis Bean Standards were built.
This guitar is in good condition with the original teardrop hardshell case.
