S/N: 60480, built during 1971 at the Guild plant in Westerly, Rhode Island.
The Guild D-40 Bluegrass Jubilee is a sonic cannon. A very even, full tone representing all the notes played is delivered with volume and projection. It's an ideal guitar for bluegrass styles where there's competition with banjos and mandolins. The woods used on the Guild D-40 are those favoured for bluegrass - spruce for the top and mahogany for the back and sides, providing brilliance and fast attack, yet with warmth and depth.
Built at the Guild plant in Westerly, Rhode Island during 1971, this Guild D-40 Bluegrass Jubilee is in good, largely original condition. It has had a K&K pickup added with an endpin jack. The Grover Sta-Tites are original, and a strap pin has been added to the heel. The saddle is fairly low and the action height is 6/64ths bass and 4.5/64ths inches treble. One characteristic of Guild guitars was a slightly narrower fingerboard, and here the nut width is 1 5/8 inches.
The original hardshell case is included.
