S/N: AD-246, dates to 1967 and built at the Guild plant in Hoboken, New Jersey, USA.
The Guild Navarre F-50 was near the top of the Guild steel string line, and was built from 1954 to 1986, and reissued for 1994 and 1995. It features a distinctively Guild jumbo body - 17 inches across - a Sitka Spruce top, Flame Maple sides and an arched, laminated Flamed Maple back. The neck is built of three pieces, two of Flamed Maple with a center strip of Walnut. Ebony was used for the fingerboard and bridge. Both the fingerboard and headstock are bound, as is the body, and they sport the higher-grade Guild inlays. The position markers are Mother of Pearl blocks with triangular inserts of Abalone.
This guitar sounds great. It has definitely been used as intended, and is very open, full and brilliant. The sunburst finish has expected wear and natural lacquer checking. The action and saddle are presently fairly low. The original Guild hardshell case, which has travelled with this guitar for years, is included.
