S/N: 127850, built during 1963 at the historic Gibson Kalamazoo plant.
As a response to the folk wave of the late 1950's and early 1960's, the Gibson RB-175 banjo was introduced in 1962. An open-back model, it uses the long-neck design basically invented by Pete Seeger, which gives the player easy access to two open keys by adding or removing a capo at the third fret.
This 1963 example is in good playing condition and has been recently set up by Grant MacNeill. The original tuners are in the original original brown fibre faux-gator case.
