The early Gibson Les Paul Junior featured a single-cutaway mahogany slab body and mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, and a single P-90 pickup near the wraparound bridge. Strip-mounted Kluson tuners, a single volume and tone control, a side-mounted output jack and strap pins completed the hardware. In 1958, the body changed to a double cutaway. The available finish to 1958 was the sunburst seen here; in 1958 a cherry finish appeared.
This example of the 1955 Gibson Les Paul Junior production is in remarkably good condition. It has a fair amount of natural lacquer checking, and some small dents and scratches on the body and neck. It has been refretted, and the tuners have been replaced with a vintage-style set - the originals are in the case.
A non-original hard shell case is included. The original case for this guitar would have been a fibre case - that is, cardboard with a faux-alligator finish.
