Introduced in 1931 as the top of the line, the Epiphone DeLuxe archtop features a carved solid spruce top and carved figured maple back and figured maple sides. In 1935, the body width settled at 17 inches. At the time, the Epiphone DeLuxe was one of the loudest archtops available - essential when playing unamplified with a horn section.
This 1946 Epiphone Deluxe is in good playing condition. It's been refretted, and a single coil deArmond neck-mount pickup has been added, with the controls mounted on a reproduction, bound tiger stripe pickguard. The back is a very nicely burled set of maple. The neck is maple with a rosewood fingerboard and a mother of pearl cloud motif inlay set; the headstock bears the classic Epiphone Vine inlay set. The original E-logo tuners work well. The scale length is 25.5 inches and the nut width 1 11/16 inches. A case is available, but not included.
