S/N: N/A, dates to the early 1930s at the Oscar Schmidt plant in Jersey City, New Jersey.
In the 1920s and 1930s, Oscar Schmidt built many brands including Stella, but Sovereign was used for higher end instruments like this concert size guitar. This model appeared in the 1921 Oscar Schmidt catalog as Model 654, and was built in Jersey City, New Jersy.
This Oscar Schmidt Soveriegn guitar is built with a red spruce top and mahogany for the back, sides and neck. The fingerboard features an elaborate mother of pearl 'tree of life' inlay. The headplate is Brazilian rosewood. The purfling and rosette are a mosaic herringbone.
This guitar is in fully playable condition and is a wonderful piece. It has had some service in our repair shop, and the finish has been oversprayed to protect the instrument. Sold without case.
