Serial Number | N/A, but produced around 1965 in Japan. |
Pricing | $495 CDN with gig bag. No Longer Available |
Neck | Maple neck with bound rosewood fingerboard. Does not have an adjustable truss rod, so it’s got a bit of bow yet plays cleanly. Dot markers; the bass side binding has been pierced where side markers would go. |
Frets | 20 narrow frets in good shape. |
Body | Probably a Luan mahogany laminate. |
Finish | Sunburst finish. The top appears to have received a protective coating at some point. |
Hardware/electronics | One gold-foil pickup, volume and tone, output jack on riser. The original open strip tuners have been replaced with a Kluson-type, plastic button gear; one bushing is missing. |
Playability/Action | Quite playable and overall in pretty good shape. The action is a bit high as there is no truss rod, but it plays cleanly and rings clearly. |
Case | Gig bag included. |
Comments | This is a very interesting and extremely cool guitar. It really rings and has a good sound; the ‘gold foil’ pickup appears on many recordings. The action is a little stiff for fretted playing, but it would make an outstanding slide instrument. |
