Serial Number | N/A, built 1968. |
Pricing | $1650.00 CND with original case. No Longer Available |
Neck | Maple neck with unbound rosewood fingerboard, dot markers and zero fret. 29″ scale length. Gretsch logo plate on headstock. |
Frets | Zero fret, 22 frets in total, minor wear. Strung with flatwounds, so frets wear less rapidly. |
Body | Laminated maple body, 16″ wide and 2″ thick; rear access plate (with pad). Top is bound. |
Finish | Walnut nitrocellulose gloss finish in reasonable condition, painted-on F-holes. |
Hardware/electronics | Van Ghent tuners, single Super ‘Tron pickup master volume, tone switch, mute and standby switch. Mute is missing the pad but the mechanism works. Space control bridge and G-cut tailpiece. |
Playability/Action | Plays well and cleanly; the 29″ scale makes for a comfortable bass with a shorter reach. |
Case | Original case included. |
Comments | Gretsch basses are fairly unusual; they couldn’t overcome the Fender juggernaut, and with the exponential rise of stage volume levels as amplification evolved, hollowbody instruments were a risk. This is a good-condition example of a single-pickup 6071 bass. |
