Serial Number | 1762 8, built 1956 |
Pricing | $3500.00 CAD, case not included. |
Neck | Mahogany neck with unbound rosewood fingerboard, dot markers. |
Frets | The frets are likely original, and there is an amount of honest playing wear on the frets and fingerboard, mostly in the lower positions. |
Body | Mahogany back and sides with spruce top. Binding on top and back. This guitar has had a pickup installed at some point, and the hole on the lower bout for the output jack has been filled and touched up with crack repairs. There are remnants of a battery mount along the center strip, and a few minor crack repairs. |
Finish | Original gloss sunburst nitrocellulose lacquer finish. |
Hardware/electronics | Original ceramic adjustable saddle. The original Kluson tuners have been replaced with newer models (reproduction Klusons, made by the resurrected Kluson company); the plastic buttons on many older Kluson tuners have badly deteriorated over the years. These new Kluson tuners have the look but are smoother and more accurate than the originals ever were. |
Playability/Action | This is a very good-playing guitar and really sounds great. |
Case | Case not included. |
Comments | The J-45 is one of the classic standard guitars for North American music styles, and has been a favourite since its introduction in 1942. With a fuller, warmer midrange tone than equivalent square-shoulder dreadnaughts, the J-45 sits perfectly in the rhythm slot for many tunes. This example is in good, very playable condition and really great full crisp sound. |
