Comments | Today we are featuring a lovely OM from builder Marc-Andre Dubosq, in Kapuskasing, Ontario.Marc has studied under Australian luthier Chris Wynne at The School of Acoustic Guitar Making and has been building guitars for around 10 years. This Orchestra sized guitar has a Sitka spruce top and Ziricote sides and back. The bracing is a forward shifted scalloped X pattern and helps give the dynamic Sitka spruce top even more volume and sustain. A clear and crisp note fundamental, great volume for a small guitar and some lovely overtones characterized the tone of this guitar.
I love guitars that use wood for their appointments as it lends a warm earthly tone to the visual impact. Marc has done just this with the maple body binding and the Padeuk, ash and Ziricote rosette. The Ash from the rosette even came from a piano built in Toronto in the 1800’s. How cool is that!! This is a great sounding, playing and looking guitar and it comes with a Hiscox flight case. |
