The Quartz Series from Breedlove has been, and still is, the best American made mandolin in its price point. They not only sound great, but are also very easy to play. Details like radiused fingerboards and generous string spacing make them a very comfortable instrument. Design features such as low-profile neck and tail blocks and a floating bridge extension ensure maximum resonance and tonal response.
Breedlove mandolins are available in three basic body shapes (O, K and F), and each shape is available with two bracing/voicing styles (f-hole/tone-bar and oval hole/x-brace).
The mandolin that I’m reviewing today is a Breedlove Quartz OF that features a particularly nicely figured flamed maple back that is true carved & graduated, a solid carved spruce top and a very open & throaty tonality with a wide dynamic range!
