When Robert Godin introduced his 5th Avenue archtop acoustic guitar at last year’s NAMM show (2008), it was one of a handful of new products that became “the buzz” of the convention center. When Grant & I went for our appointment in the Godin room, we literally had a hard time prying the prototypes out of the hands of other store owners!
Godin has taken the 5th Avenue concept one step further with the introduction of their Kingpin model, which is outfitted with a “dogear” format P-90 style single coil pickup with top-mounted volume & tone controls. The Kingpin still has all of the features of the original 5th Avenue … the comfortable Silver Leaf maple neck with vintage-style tuners & suspended fingerboard extension, Wild Cherry arched top & back with fully hollow 16″ body & floating rosewood bridge … but with the added top-mounted P-90 you are now ready to gig!
