Carrying a translucent blonde finish and rosewood fingerboard, this 1976 Fender Telecaster is in very good, nearly original condition. The neck pickup has been replaced - the original pickup is in the case. The strap pins have been changed to models with wider flanges, for more security - it's always awkward to have the strap fall off during performance.
One of the earliest major changes to the Fender lineup was the availability of rosewood as a fingerboard material; originally, nearly all Fender necks were made of one piece of maple with a walnut insert for the truss rod channel. In mid 1959, the first rosewood 'Slab board' Telecasters appeared, and by 1962 Fender had worked out how to apply the rosewood as a veneer.
Translucent blonde was the earliest finish available on the Fender Telecaster. It has a creamy white-yellow hue yet the wood grain is visible. On many vintage models, including this one, the clear top coats naturally check or crack, sometimes creating a road-map effect. This example has light checking in some areas and a few small dents arond the edges.
A non-original hard shell case is included.
