S/N: N/A, built between 1971 and 1978 by Hofner in Germany.
The Hofner 4579ii was a major revision of the original 1970 4579, which used a 'Club' shape body. The second version was shaped much more like a Les Paul. The 4579ii was built between 1971 and 1978 with several types of pickups and an optional vibrato tailpiece.
The body of the Hofner 4579ii isn't quite solid; it has a maple laminate top and there's a bit of space under it; it's essentially a chambered design. The only available finish was a gloss black polyester with white binding. Here, most of the parts outside the pickups are original except for the pickups and pickguard - the original pickups have been replaced with a pair of Seymour Duncan Antiquity mini-humbuckers (7.5k neck, 6.2k bridge). A new pickguard was made to fit, and a Hofner logo applied.
This guitar plays well, and has a good weight and balance. A modern, brown Gibson hard-shell case is included.
