This Gibson Les Paul Classic 1960 sports a Cherry Burst finish and ‘1960’ stamped creme pick guard, and was built during 1993 at the Gibson Nashville plant.

Built to refer to the 1960 version of the Les Paul Standard, the 1993 Gibson Les Paul Classic 1960 features a slim taper neck and little to no weight relief.

The Gibson Les Paul Classic 1960 follows the usual pattern of a carved Maple cap on a Mahogany back, set Mahogany neck and bound Indian Rosewood fingerboard. The carve of the top is a little more pronounced than the slightly flatter R series, and the neck is slimmer. Tuners are ‘Gibson Deluxe’ models with plastic Keystone buttons. These are lighter than the Grover Roto-Matics sometimes chosen, and that’s a good tactic for improving balance. The pickups on the Les Paul classic tended to be a fairly high output, and here a 490R and 490T pickup pair is installed. The wiring is basic Gibson style with individual volume and tone controls and selector switch. There are no push-pull pots. The pots are mounted on a metal grounding plate.

Overall, this 1993 example is in good condition with finish and fret wear. The Cherry Burst finish shows little to no natural lacquer checking but has a few small pressure marks.
