Brand: Yamaha Guitars
Instrument Categories: Classical and Flamenco, Guitars, SOLD
The Yamaha Grand Concert FC10 was part of Yamaha’s efforts to create top quality classical and flamenco guitars, an effort that began in the mid 1960s. At that point, Yamaha arranged for three luthiers – Hiroshi Harada, Hideyuki Ezaki and Toshio Kato, to learn from Spanish master Eduardo Ferrer. Ferrer subsequently travelled repeatedly to Japan to aid in the production setup.
We’ve recently seen a number of Yamaha Grand Concert Classical models, and this FC10 is the first of the Flamenco models that have passed through. Built at the Yamaha head facility in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture Japan, t is dated 1983 and signed by the master luthier, and is in very good condition. The top is solid Sitka Spruce, with the solid Cypress back and sides traditionally used on Flamenco Blanca guitars. The fingerboard and bridge are Ebony, with Rosewood for the head plate. A full Golpeador are installed to the top to protect it from tapping. The tuners are gold plated, and are likely built by Gotoh,
These guitars differ somewhat from Spanish production. In particular, the neck joint is a dovetail or mortise and tenon rather than a ‘slipper heel’.
This wonderful example of the 1980’s Yamaha grand concert FC10 production is in great shape, with very little wear. It has so little wear that it looks essentially unplayed. It sounds good as is, but with use it should really open up.
A black hard shell case is included.
