Brand: Laskin
Instrument Categories: Classical and Flamenco, Guitars, SOLD
Built during 2019 in Toronto, this William Laskin Flamenco Blanca guitar features a Spruce top, Cypress for the sides and back and Spanish Cedar for the body blocks and neck. The head plate and fingerboard are Ebony, and the bridge is Indian Rosewood. The rosette combines Laskin’s traditional mosaic pattern with two rings of Abalone or similar shell – subtle and attractive.
For hardware on this Laskin Flamenco Blanca model, the nut and saddle are bone, and importantly Laskin has used Pegheds tuners. These have the visual appearance of traditional wooden friction tuners, but also have internal gearing making them much stabler and easier to use. It may be noticed that the E strings are wound ‘backwards’ on their tuners, and this is a deliberate action to make the string path as straight as possible and reduce friction.
As non-traditional features, there is a sound port on the upper bass bout and of course the Laskin arm rest is used on the lower bass bout.
Throughout, the materials selection and build quality are extremely high.
There is a full size tap plate or golpeador, but there is some distinctive tapping wear to the top below the trebles. There are a few repaired cracks to the top and back.
This Laskin Flamenco Blanca guitar has been played as intended and its voice is developing, but perhaps not fully. It is clear and crisp without harshness.
The original Hoffee carbon fiber hard shell case is included.
