This William Laskin Classical guitar was built during 1994 at Laskin’s shop in Toronto, with a Cedar top and Indian Rosewood back and sides.
William Laskin is one of the top luthiers in not only Canada; his work is highly regarded worldwide. Having worked with Jean Larrivee, as did other prominent Canadian builders including David Wren Linda Manzer and G W Barry, Laskin is known for top quality work and incredible engraved inlays.
Here we’re looking at a fairly traditional William Laskin Classical Guitar, with a long 655mm scale length, 52mm nut, Sloane tuners and Laskin armrest. This model is built with a Dovetail neck joint rather than a traditional Spanish ‘Slipper’ heel. This introduces a visual difference, where the heel cap is separate from the back; on a ‘Slipper’ heel, the back is usually extended to act as the heel cap.
The Laskin armrest was developed by Laskin, and first appeared in 1989, to discreetly make the top edge of the lower bass bout more comfortable. Laskin has also adapted it as the ‘Rib Rest’ to soften the back edge as well.
This guitar is in good condition and has recently been set up and had a couple of top cracks repaired at The Twelfth Fret Repair Shop. This guitar has been used as intended, and has some wear and tear and a few small dings to show for it. It plays well, and has a warm, rich, fully developed sound.
The original grey Calton flight case is included.
