Brand: Wildwood Banjos
Instrument Categories: Banjos, SOLD
Note! Wildwood Banjos are now discontinued with the retirement of their builder, Mark Platen. The few models we have in stock are the last new Wildwoods that will be available.
The model illustrated here is no longer available as new, and this post is maintained for historical purposes only.
Wildwood banjos continue to be one of the most prominent of our professional level banjo lines. These U.S. made instruments feature a “flat head style” cast tone ring, one piece cast resonator flange, fancy fiddleback maple or American black walnut necks inlaid with mother of pearl and abalone, binding and purfling, and fancy figured matching resonators … truly hard driving workhorses designed to make serious bluegrass music!
The Wildwood Artist Model’s newly designed inlays feature mother of pearl inlaid into red abalone … technically challenging but much like the older traditional bluegrass inlays of the 1950’s. The Artist Model banjo is available in either curly hard Maple (stained or natural finish) or, as special order, quarter sawn American black walnut!
