Built 2002 to 2011, the Taylor NS62ce was a ‘crossover’ model, part of the Nylon Series. A ‘Crossover’ usually has a number of features seldom found on other nylon string guitars, including a cutaway plus a narrower, crowned fingerboard and often electronics. The aim is to make the tone and responsiveness of a nylon string guitar more accessible to players used to steel string models and Latin Jazz players.
This Taylor NS62ce dates to June 30, 2010 and was built at the US Taylor plant in El Cajon, California. It is in very good clean condition with absolutely minimal wear to the frets or its natural finish. It plays well and cleanly, and for a non-classically trained player is much easier to adapt to than a traditional classical guitar.
Based on a cutaway Grand Concert sized body, the Taylor NS62ce features an Engelmann Spruce top paired with highly flamed Maple for the sides and back. The neck, body blocks and linings are Mahogany, with Ebony for the head plate, fingerboard and bridge. There is a full set of side dot position markers on the bass side of the fingerboard! Body binding includes Indian Rosewood, and the rosette uses Maple and other veneers. As stock and as indicated by the ‘e’ in the model name, it is equipped with a Taylor Expression System pickup and preamp set, with controls at the heel and the battery access and output jack located at the tail block. The original 2010 US retail price for this model was $3698.
